  1. Slavery in the new age.
While in old times slavery was defined like: “To keep a human being as a possession” it is been transformed in a new concept where slavery is a synonym of hard work.
But it is not just about hard work, it is about ridiculous salaries, long working hours and mainly the inability of the people to change their way of life.
Some people think that there is no difference between the slavery in old times and new times. It is means that now the great companies are the ones who have thousands of workers, and these workers not live better than the old slaves.
I think it is true, because if you do a job well done, you should receive a salary good enough to ensure the basic services that you need like: food, health, housing, education, and pension. But in most of cases it does not happen.
In spite of, the capitalist model demand that the companies produce the largest number possible of products at the lowest possible price, and it fall directly to the workers’ salary.
I believe that what can be done is very little, because even if the government makes stricter labor legislation, the companies could work in out-of-law places such as open sea. Another way to avoid modern slavery would be to completely close international trade, however this would bring terrible consequences for the country’s economy.
In conclusion to completely end modern slavery, it would be necessary to implement a new economic and social model in all countries of the world, and in my opinion it is impossible.

  2. The Slavery of the XXI Century.

Slavery is a word that meaning the possession of a person or the coercion of their freedom by another person of greater power, although slavery is a situation that goes back thousands and thousands of years is ironic to observe how a phenomenon of the past becomes so present in our days.
First of all, I believe that all of us to a certain extent remain slaves either from the economic system, from the religions and even from ourselves, also piteously from those versions of slavery that are more "harmful" those that mistreat the dignity and integrity physical of the person. This form of slavery has adopted new denominations, nowadays it is known as: child labor, human trafficking, sexual exploitation, any form of mistreatment and even domestic servitude; where children and women being its main victims, since it is a popular thought to believe that they are cheap labor.
It is important to say that with the emergence of the Declaration of Human Rights, the interest to disappear this scenario is only something that in my opinion is observed on paper, but not in practice, this is a problem that day by day makes it more popular so it is now harder to counter. Unfortunately, slavery is a valuable commodity for the entire industry in which only the most organized criminals benefit. With regard to this type of slavery, I believe that it is essential that the national government create and enforce stricter laws to rehabilitate the dignity and human integrity of the people harmed, as well as punish those who coerced the freedom of the weak.
In terms of being slaves of the economic system, of the churches and of ourselves, some people believe that these are disguised practices in which we believe ourselves free but in which there is actually someone who benefits, for example, our boss, the priests and in our case, our addictions.
To sum up, even in our modern era considered free and productive, we continue to be prisoners of the desires and whims of those people who have the greater influence in our political, economic, social and cultural system. This is why I believe that the only way to go against any form of slavery is to strengthen our ability to make decisions and say no against what is damage our well-being.

  3. Our Main Problem
The term slavery means being in possession of someone else and according to the history, in the past it was very common for people of high classes to buy or trade ‘’slaves’’, they weren’t able to do anything on their own and they were obligated to obey, nowadays people think that slavery doesn’t exist anymore because we don’t see people mistreating other human beings in the street or forcefully making someone to obey but in my opinion, we can see slavery in our century in many forms and they are all related to a main topic, money.

First of all, at work, we are in a world were almost every job is not well paid and in order to get a little more money to live people tend to overwork theirselves, we can see that even if they don’t like their jobs they obey someone else and do anything its needed because losing a job is worse than anything, they don’t care about the exhaustion they are putting in their bodies or anything in order to with the extra money live a little better than others.

Another way of slavery is consumerism, as simply as it sounds and even if we say that it doesn’t rules ourselves we can clearly see the impact of it in our little lives, every day we are bombarded with many products, from necessities to pure luxuries, that even if we don’t want we have to buy and as far as I know, having to consume things that we don’t even want is a way of slavery, in this way we can also see capitalism, for example, big brands sell us things with the slogan of a necessity and as dumb as it sounds we tend to fell for it, this big brands sell us things that we need for our everyday life by really low prices and as normal human beings we buy.

To sum up, is impossible not being slaves in this century, everything we need is attached to this requirement and for me is totally impossible get out of it, as I said, everything is controlled with money and as much as we want this not to be true, we know that our world is controlled by it, without money we wouldn’t be able to eat or anything, we have to be careful and focus on things that are in fact a necessity and try to avoid being all absorbed in all the things the society offers us.

  4. A past fact, more present tan ever.
A while back, slavery was considered by certains individuals, the fact of be the owner by anyone else. They were the ones, who making the hard work, they were chose because their skin color, like black people, or about their different religions. All of these beliefs, it´s supossed had been removed, but right now the world tell us a different reality.

Nowadays, the crime known as the "Trafficking in Persons" is considered the slavery of the 21st century. To this, belongs, a lot of different problems, which are the most shockings facts, that are happen in a development society, with a lot of thecnological advances, to help to the globalization. But I think that, in fact of being worry about the own vision of the person, we aren´t advance in any kind of situation, because slavery it’s around us in places that we couldn’t never think, like in homes; these are little things that we see like normal, but all of these affects both, firstable the person, and the society, which these individuals are immersed.

In the child slavery, the victims are children around 5 and 14 years old, and they are always illiterate, which most of the times are included too in sexual slavery with a big porcentage of women. By the other hand, men are immersed being the traffickers, but too, in sea food industry inside a big ships, and they are producing a lot of fish and shellfish. In my opinion modern’day slavery, it´s denotes by the need of have some money, to pay debts, or in another case a big job offer, that ends beind a completely farce.

So according to that, being a slave, implies, have to take shelter of orders by anyone else, with any warranty to have good conditions to live or die, under the submission of slavery. I believe that the only thing, how we can fight with slavery, firstable with children, is that, all of them would could go to the school, and would have a good condition, to doesn’t have to look for a job, which sometimes isn’t the best way, to solve his problems. Taking into account woman and man, I think that, the best way, it’s having a good informarion about that incredible job offers, which sometimes, ending immerded into big problems, that maybe we couldn’t get out of.

  5. Slavery: Then and Now

Slavery is unfortunately something that has existed since immemorial Times, and it is ironic that although over the years the context to refer to being a slave has changed, the word is still used today for the purpose of expressing the following:

"I cannot do what I want, I cannot feel what I want, I am not what I want, everything that I am, feel and do belongs to another"

To begin with, a positive point is knowing that nowadays slavery is already considered as something harmful, in ancient times it was very normal to hear stories about servants, lackeys and slaves of other people, and not only humans, also today it is considered that animal abuse is also part of slavery. In those terms it could be said that slavery has had a very favorable change in the history of humanity. However, the real problem is that slavery still exists and what makes it even more worrisome is this: we do not know that we are Slaves

Technology plays a very important role today when we talk about slavery in the 21st century, since it is from this that we are slaves without realizing it, and the explanation is very simple, at present the internet is "EVERYTHING", if you do not own it, you are "alone" and you miss out on: news, information, contacts, etc. It is also considered strange to find someone who does not have social networks, cell phones, telephone number, etc. To someone who does own them

In other words before we could live without Internet, Smartphones and others. Now the sad reality is that the "motto" of this century could be:
    "
“ BE the technology, or lose everything…"

  6. "Slavery is the subjection of a weak and coward spirit who does not own its will." Cicerón

Documentary sources have shown that the history of slavery extends from antiquity to the present day. The forms of manifestation of the slavery at each age have been different, but in general, it is about the not recognition of rights and freedom of a person being absolutely submitted to the will and domination of another.

Today, although this type of slavery still exists, there is another kind that is getting popular, it is known as “Modern Slavery”. More than 45 million people today are suffering "Modern Slavery", serving on fishing boats due to debt, submitted to forced marriages, detained against their will as domestic servants or trapped in brothels under threat of violence. The bad people have robbed their freedom, they have no other option, they are oppressed, submitted and can not escape from that reality by themselves.

We are against slavery, it seems us horrible, unfair and inhuman in any of its forms. But many times we are slaves by own choice, despite this initial rejection. We decided to be slaves of ourselves. We become slaves of the anxieties of having more, of our animal instinct like not controlling our way of eating, sexual desires, laziness and constant unnecessary struggles.

The world offers us thousands of ways of submitting us to addictions or stereotypes, and we allow it. We become psycho-dependent of money, we accept a low-paid job, in terrible conditions, despising our dignity all because "it could be worse"; We want a good appearance, and for it, we lose our time and tranquility thinking how to be fashionable, to please everyone because the world demands it, we put our happiness in the hands of others; In the success at the expense of working hard, of not devoting time to our family, of risking our health, mental stability, emotional, only to reach success. There is a system that enslaves us, we can avoid it, but we simply decide to be slaves by choice.

In conclusion, we allow the system to submit us to their wishes. We can start by reducing the hours spent using technology, eating well, controlling our anxiety, avoiding stereotypes, addictions and obsessions. Willpower makes great people; A person with self-control is capable of resisting any external oppression.

  7. The Slavery Of The XXI Century:

Nowadays, the slavery surround us in different contexts.
You could be a slave in this society without even notice, not only slave of technology but also stereotype slave, of beauty meaning in this century.

Globalization is one of the factors that sway on our vision of power and the answer of what is really important to increase your status among all. I thing that slavery is being against your thoughts and conceptions, let someone else guide you through their own perception good and evil, making you meek and compliant, where you don’t own yourself anymore, taking your gab away.

Some people pretend to be happy with their flamboyant life, luxurious brands on their closets and their deluxe car; they don’t even realize the way they are joying modern-day slavery, following the ideal of happiness on magazines, showing the beauty edge that is written as the holy law of God.

Be a slave means to follow those given rules by society which give you the answer to prevent any clear sing of rebellion that you can presenter against the system. A way to fight against slavery is to awaken from that ideal stereotype of happiness, beauty and power, awake to a new reality, where you have the answer of your own flamboyant life.

  8. Invisible CHAINS

First of all, for me slavery is a condition where the slave is owned or under someone or something else’s control. Is a sentence where one dooms and the other one obeys. It exists since Antiquity and its meaning has been transforming through the centuries.

Now, we are able to see and to talk about tons of different kinds of slavery: forced begging, forced working as sweatshops are, drug- addicts, alcoholics, workaholics, social media slavery, sexual slavery, fashion slavery and more.

So nowadays, we can see and classify the many different ways of modern slave with some soft terms as fan, fanboy, follower, fanatic or groupie are. Also, we can describe a slave with heavier words as lover, addict, maniac or psycho are. All those terms are possible because modern slavery denotes more than obeying and being doomed by someone or something. I believe that most of modern slaves all over the world are unaware of its situation and they don’t know when or how to stop being one.

For me, modern-day slavery denotes excesses, overusing, the impossibility of acting by its own count or to stop doing or reacting against something. Slaves are used to overusing everything.

I consider that being a slave in this century is thanked to the human weaknesses and its pursuit of happiness, so it is easy to be a slave to something nowadays. We often are slaves to internet, to social media, to system, to food, to drugs, to games, to gambling, to work and even slaves to that that makes us happy.

I think is pretty easy to admit that nowadays slavery is easier to fight against with than the classic slavery with those chains, gags and whips, but of course it is still as hard as quitting smoking is, which is another way of being slave. We must to stop focusing on our satisfaction and start to realize and to reflect what are we doing, how often we do it, why we do it and how to stop doing it.

  9. A LIMITED LIFE
Slavery consists in subjugating ourselves to power , ideas or desires, whether they are ours or not. In this century the choises we make are contingent on what the environment imposes on us, that is, what we should or should not feel comfortable with, we are slaves of technology nowadays personal communication consists only of messages and interaction in social networks and even when we do not have access to it we feel incomplete. When i refer to being slaves of ourselves It means that we demand, limit and act following an idea that favors others but not our own interests in most of the cases we belive that all what we face is for bigger goal in the tomorrow but maybe that idea is not bringing us any welfare at this time. Slavery has been reflected in the things we are able to do to achieve what we believe "need" a clear example is drug addiction because they start seeing it as only a challenge to pass and finally the decisions they have taken has designated them a future in which they no longer have a voice or vote.
I consider that we are responsible for our lives as long as we take care of them but the moment we let a person, an addiction or just a dream become bigger than achieve happiness we become voluntary slaves and with it we will carry the consequences until the end. The only solution I see possible is that we are strong enough and aware that the decisions we make today can define whether we want to or not to face what will happen tomorrow.

  10. Modern Day Slavery

Slavery has many definitions but to me it means people are owned by other people as things or animals, holding someone against their will and resecting their freedom.

First of all, slavery has been going on for centuries which some examples being the African slave trade, The Holocaust, Human Trafficking, Forced Marriage, Sex Slavery and more. Now some of these examples have been abolished but I think that some of them still unfortunately exist today.

In today’s world, we still have types of slavery that happen and occurs such as sex slavery, human trafficking, forced marriage and the list goes on even though we have laws in place to prevent this from happening but, in my opinion, even with the laws that are in place it cannot stop people from enslaving others but once they are caught the punishment is severe which depending on the situation can give life in prison and even in some countries a death penalty.

In addition, nowadays there are many things in place to stop slavery such as campaigns and ad’s like “See something say something”, citizens speaking up if they know of such slavery going on, our law enforcement having been trained on signals of trafficking, shutting down websites such as BackPage and Craigslist that solicit, but trafficking, and slavery will always find its way back around, but it is everyone’s job to help fight against it and most importantly stop it.

To sum up, I believe that the best way to end slavery is to make sure people are educated on signs of slavery, speaking up and shutting down ways to solicit and make it harder for people who are enslaving people to continue. I know that there are many programs to help those who were a victim of any kind of slavery such as support groups and therapy.

  11. SLAVERY IN 21ST CENTURY

Many years ago we could talk about a different kind of slavery where the people was forced to work in all kind of factories or working to service to the rich people, so, in the past people work very hard and they did not receive money or any kind of protection. Today there are many problems about this because in the 21st century we can see all the time some things related to the slavery. We can find people that have poor working conditions. People that have to work approximately 12 hour in a day and receive 15.000 Colombian Pesos. For example in a farm where one person recollect Coffee, this person must to work from 6 am to 6 pm and for this his or her boss pay him/her 16.000 Colombian Pesos and without any protection or no possibility of some kind of pension.

Nobody reflects about that problem and for this reason Colombia lives in constant poverty. Therefore, we can find some person that believe that the most important thing is get a job and get money for this reason they don’t put attention in their rights as workers. For this reason, we can find bosses that take advantage of the poverty in their employers. Another thing that we should reflect is that nowadays we are slaves of other things and not necessarily in our jobs, so, we can see people that is slaves of their cellphones, their computers, girlfriend, boyfriend, money, networks, and dreams. Therefore, we can say that all the people is slave of something in the life.

We should know that the slavery is something that will never end. For example, we always will see persons that are all day on Facebook, persons that work all day and all night in order to get money, person that are slavery of her/his husband or wife, persons that are slaves of his/her dreams and all the time they will aim to get it. Nowadays apart from being slaves of work very hard without rights also we are slaves of our own believes and perspectives in our life, now we are involve in a different kind of slavery where we are the slaves and at the same time we are the enslaver.

  12. The slavery of the XXIst century
To start, I think that the slavery is something that is implicit in the human beings, the people need to depend on something, or at least that seemed, and the fact is that with the pass of the years, new forms of modern slavery are appearing, a clear example of it is our dependence on the electronic devices and the technology in general.
In this ideas order, the technology has become slightly almost essential in our lives, something of what we are always wrapped and/or dependent, and reflecting about the new generations in the world, we can realize that something that looks like a new organ for the human beings is the Smartphone, many things have changed and in a very little time, without giving us the possibility of reflecting about what we are doing, and the fact is that this knickknack consumes so much our time, that sometimes is something that i cannot believe, we wake up with the longing for seeing our cell phone, looking for our friends have done in the social networks while we weren’t connected, and topcoat we always have the need to be fashionable, to feel included, and this, somehow, is a form of slavery.
Since I had saying previously the technology has absorbed completely the traditionalisms, has limited the human interaction completely to simple bits, everything is consumed in the social networks, multimedia platforms and navigation in Internet of all that that we don’t need and leave aside our humanity, to happen to be beings under a rules that the society has put in the last decade, nowadays the person that doesn’t interact with the technology is called ‘’out of date’’ and sometimes even ‘’asocial’’, somehow, to be tied and to act as the society wants that we do it is a form of slavery also.

  13. Slavery in XXI century
In my opinion, slavery in XXI century affects all countries, and all social classes.
Besides, i think that slavery or ''being slave'' it's not only about obeying someone like in the labor field:a boss.
Slavery is something bigger than that. I think we are naturally slaves of our needs and vices.
A long time ago, black people and indigenous people were forced to work hardly, and they were not paid for that tough work they did. Nowadays we have to work for a low salary.
In ancient times people died working, or some even prefer commiting suicide.
Today a lot of people can't jubilate, and some commit suicide too because they feel too stressed.
The only thing that has changed in terms of slavery is that now it's disguised as something ''legal''.
In my opinion sweatchops would be over if the people had better opportunities for working.
Finally, i think that we will never be free, if we have to eat we are not free, if we have to sleep we are not free, if we have to use clothes we are not free!
The only way to be free is dying! But that's a cowardice.
In certain way slavery gives meaning to life.
So, when the vices, the job, and our needs are full filled we have as a result happiness.
We could say they give meaning to our lifes.

  14. ARE WE REALLY FREE PEOPLE?

Currently we say all the time that we are free, that we can do whatever we want and that we are autonomous when we make decisions, however, that freedom is reduced in several factors since our birth. First we depend on our parents for a long time, and meanwhile, we must study in a school where you are free, but you must wear a uniform, you have a specific rest time and specific hours for each thing, then when you work you are a person free with a job that takes away freedom and could also continue listing daily activities that enslave us, watch television, have an account on all social networks, use the latest trends, buy certain brands and our "favorite" things, are things that They make us addicted and then enslave us.
First of all, to be slaves of something is to allow something or someone to have control over us, and it affects us in such a way, that others notice it, but we are already immersed in our slavery.
In addition, you spend a lot of time immersed in this, and justify it, whatever you do, play games, buy accessories or clothes impulsively, gamble money in a casino, not drop the cell phone even in meetings with your friends, work hours and hours regardless of your health, just to get more money, drink alcoholic beverages to run out of money among others.
To sum up, we all know someone who is part of or even part of the 21st century slavery, a slavery not only physical but mental, that wears away not only your body but your brain, a slavery that you can "control" or that can control your life to lose important things or people, of course there are more profound and more harmful slaves than others, however it is important that we are aware of what we do and when we should stop.

  15. Slavery

When we hear the word "slavery" inmediatly we think in the past, centuries ago when thousands of people was selling as workers and they had to work without reward in exchange. They were forced to work under terrible conditions and they were consider properly. After many years, this kind of slavery was fortunately eradicated.
But, nowdays unfortunately, if we take a moment to analize the situation in this century, we can find many types of slavery; some more serious than others, some with worst consequences than others. I am going to talk first about those types that I consider are the worst.
For example it is terrible that in some countries, trafficking activity exist, and many people, many times from Latin American countries are forced to labor or sexual explotation. It is totally unaceptable.
But now let's talk about some types of slavery closer to us. To be a slave means be under the domain of another, lack of freedom.
In my opinon, freedom is something relative, I think that nobody is totally freedom, we are all slaves to something, tecnollogy, money, work, food, fashion, religion or vices such as cigarette, alcohol psychoactive substances, among others.
Slavery could be a synonime of adiction, I think that each person live its own type of slavery. Some of these types of slavery are not so harmful, but other can destroy relationships, families or whole lives. The problem is the degree of slavery. It depends on each person.
We must become aware and avoid being slaves of something that coud damage aspects of our lives.

  16. Modern Slavery.
Slavery is considered by most people as a social phenomenon that is part of the past given that we believed that the factor of dependence on slavery that maintains absolute control over a person no longer exists, what is disturbing is that in reality this event has only evolved and has become a problem that currently affects us all in different measures.
The above is a consequence of the demographic explosion that has increased in recent decades and thus the price that is given to humans is relatively unreal, leading to the creators of this crime taking advantage of the poverty and vulnerability of people through of bonded labor, forced marriage, forced labor and others.
I think that this problem is based on the ignorance that we have on the subject, at the moment this event is unknown and if we maintain this conception it is possible that the slavery expands; For this reason it is important to think as a first solution, to spread the word and inform ourselves about the issue and in doing so we should think about the global slavery increase rates not only as numbers, but as people who are in this situation and do not even know it.
In addition, we must also focus on immigrant people given that they are a population that when someone asked them "do you want a job?" They respond affirmatively even knowing that this can lead them to unthinkable situations, given that in their mind only the fact of the need of food appears that is why it is necessary to establish a safe migration that involves the intervention of governments.
To sum up, modern slavery involves the process of rethinking this situation through the so-called "intellectual power" for its solution, and this implies freeing ourselves from dependencies such as technology, money, and others that, in addition, lead to the construction of a system that maintains a cycle in which the slavery of each of us is based on the corruption that ends in the millions of people who are currently living in inhuman conditions.

  17. AS CREATORS OF SLAVERY, WE ARE OUR SLAVES
The slavery is known by the time in which people with privileges bought and sold to people who according to them were not people, for which they were treated as animals, animals that should serve and obey.
People today think that slavery died with declarations of independence and that people are free now, but perhaps slavery in the 21st century is presented in other ways.
I believe that in the 21st century, people tend to be slaves of the anti ethics such as prostitution and children working to support their families but nobody do anything to change it, stereotypes, technology, laziness, corrupt politics, work, consumerism.
I think these are not the only forms of slavery, since people usually care more about the fact that a person is fat before the bombing of entire villages, regardless of whether many people die; slavery of stereotypes and blindness to war, People care more about connecting with people they do not know behind the lie that no one loves them, even if they have family and friends around them, wanting share with them.
the washinton post published the following article: "It's the 21st century, yet slavery is alive and well" in which we talk about slavery and how in the 21st century there are 45 million children, men and women in slavery and not punctually ethical slavery but the slavery we already know. The problem is actually in the people who are determined to become rich no matter how they get it, in the people who create the laws and do not do it to strengthen justice, but to sink it, in the people that have the opportunity to change the laws for the benefit of humanity, but we prefer to get ourselves killed by a political party or a candidate; even without taking into account the kind of person for whom we are doing it.
The slavery in this century denotes the reversion of humanity, the return to the filth that we had supposedly left behind, this only shows that in reality humans are hypocritical beings concerned with things without meaning.
first of all, the way to leave slavery in this century would be for people to leave double standards, for laws to be strong enough to punish those who still practice it, and to protect children who are victims of this practice.
I also believe that people should consider applying technological and scientific advances to medicine and to the applications available to reduce the greenhouse effect on the earth and end global warming.
Another way would be recover the folklore and culture to secure that nobody forget the roots and the history, because remembering our history wed can avoid the mistakes comitted in the past.

  18. Give a definition of slavery is very general, because nowadays we can be slaves of everything.First of all I could say that it is the dependence of something or someone that generates something in return, and today there are so many options, it is not always related to abuse or lack of freedom, but first, what is freedom? We have the idea of freedom as the lack of domain, or the right to do whatever you want, and it is not always like that, one part of freedom is to make decisions that don't affect the integrity of others, it means that everyone must meet certain standards despite being free, the problem is when we decide to be slaves or we become slaves of our hobbies, our friends, our cell phone or our job.

Slavery has been and will be part of society, it doesn't matter if change its structure, nowadays it is not very common to see people with whips selling people in the street, or buying slaves to work, but often we can see large factories with people in bad conditions striving for a minimum, or bosses asking for extra hours for their employees, people who work even on weekends without sleep, it is kind of slavery.

In my opinion the idea of slavery evolved and we should look for solutions to it, how to fight against the slavery of the 21st century? Being selective and self-sufficient, thinking about how I spend my time and if it is something productive or I do it unconsciously, and mainly avoiding hurt ourselves.

It would be great to do a self-examination to start with ourselves and establish priorities.
